First of all, a big THANK-YOU to our community and our church members for honoring our government’s requests to minimize gathering sizes during this COVID-19 scare. That THANK-YOU is also extended to our government officials who have examined the current evidence and have deemed it wise to begin opening businesses and churches again.

As a church, we are exempt from the new gathering limit of 25, according to the new health orders that came out from Governor Gordon’s office. We must follow several precautions, however, and ask that if you feel sick, please do not attend.

Church will be very much like normal, with a few exceptions:
•Groups will be asked to sit six feet away from other groups
•Hand sanitizer and masks are available in multiple locations around the building
•Offering plates will not be passed by members, but held by the ushers. A donation box will also be available.
•Staff will be screened before serving in ministry
•Livestream services will continue via the church Facebook page

Church by definition means assembling together. If you are not ill, I would like to encourage you to safely attend this Sunday! Thank you for your excellent participation so far, but I’ve been waiting a long time to be able to say…

WELCOME BACK!

Our church is going to cooperate with the governor’s mandate and cancel our physical gatherings for the next two weeks. We will hold one livestream service to the best of our ability on Sunday morning at 11AM and one in the evening at 6PM. On Wednesday night at 7, we will live stream our Bible study and provide a way to communicate prayer requests.

Please let me give you some guidelines for “virtual assembly.” 

* Please assemble together to watch – small groups help with accountability and fellowship.

* Take livestream seriously: Sing, pray, open your Bible, and don’t allow for distractions. Please comment as soon as you get there so folks know you are with them.

* Excitement in Unity – we are doing this TOGETHER! 

MANY in our church have offered to help others with food, supplies, or other needs. Please REACH OUT by phone message or Facebook message with any needs.

Tithe.ly – Please download the app or visit the link on our Facebook page or church website to be faithful in your giving over the next few weeks. You are still welcome to send in donations or drop them off at the church on Sunday afternoon or by appointment throughout the week. 

Please spread the word to others so they know how they can stay connected in the next few weeks. 

Let’s pray one for another and demonstrate the peace of God during this unusual time in our community. Now more than ever people need to hear about Christ!

Although the panic may be overhyped, we are following recommended, common-sense steps to reduce the risk of spreading sicknesses at our gatherings. We will continue with all of our regularly scheduled services, but we will not be incorporating our “greeting time” in the service. We also are sanitizing all door handles, restroom handles and fixtures, and commonly touched surfaces after every service. 

Although many will still be fine with a standard handshake for a greeting, please be sensitive to those who prefer not to shake hands and don’t be offended if someone doesn’t shake your hand 

As always, if you are ill with any serious sickness, please stay home. We have already been working to set up live streaming and online giving for those who are too sick to attend. Lord-willing, we will be up and running on both within the next month. 

Lastly, do not allow social distancing to affect your love for God and others. Be a giver, not a hoarder. Be a helper, not a hindrance. Be a comforter, not an instigator of fear. Pray for those affected and seek to help others in our community as God would allow you to help.

Plan to take a whole day to celebrate Christ this year with Lighthouse Baptist Church!

We have six different music specials planned as well as Scripture reading and a short, thought-provoking message from our pastor that will encourage us all to focus on the reason for this Christmas season.

1. Family Fun Day and Vacation Bible School – We had a tremendous week hosting several guest families on Family Fun Day and then working with many new young people at Vacation Bible School. Praise the Lord for FIVE young people accepting Christ as Savior!
2. Missions Emphasis Weekend – What a blessing to be reminded of the incredible work going on overseas for the sake of the Gospel! Our special missionary speaker spoke with candid passion about the lost in his area. Our church committed over $20,000 to worldwide missions this coming year!
3. Richmond Lake Bible Camp – Through the generous giving and the hard work of our fundraising youth, seven campers and three counselors spent a week at Bible camp in June. Multiple decisions were made for the Lord and we can’t wait to see what God continues to do in their lives!
4. July 4th Potluck BBQ – Joyful church fellowship is always a success. What a wonderful time to enjoy one another and reconnect with some folks!

We are looking forward to what God is going to do as we move ahead in summer! Be praying for our men’s campout on the 19th and our Youth Rally on August the 3rd. Also be praying for success as we will begin the work of renovating the church foyer soon!

What a wonderful church to be a part of – I can truly say with all my heart: I LOVE MY CHURCH!
